Mohammed issues laws, decrees

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued three laws and three decrees pertaining to institutions and companies regulated by the Government of Dubai.

The first law issued by Sheikh Mohammed establishes Dubai Duty Free as a publicly traded company with a full legal personality and the capacity to carry out its objectives as a commercial entity attached to Dubai Government Investments Group. 

A decree was also issued placing Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum as chairman of the new company. The decree also forms the Board of Directors of the Dubai Government Investments Group under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mohammed, with Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Deputy Chairman, and a membership of Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued a law changing the name of the 'Office of the Dubai Shopping Festival' set up under Law No. 18 of 2007 to the 'Corporation of Dubai Events and Trade Promotion'. The entity, while retaining its full legal personality, is tasked with strengthening Dubai's status as a center for regional and international events and festivals.

A third law issued by Sheikh Mohammed replaces the name of the 'Foundation for the care of women and children' with 'Dubai Establishment for the care of women and children'.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued a decree forming the 'Supreme Commission for Fiscal Policy in the Emirate of Dubai' to be headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

A subsequent decree issued by Sheikh Mohammed forms the board of directors of Dubai Aluminum Company to be chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer as deputy chairman, and a membership of Hilal Khalfan bin Zahir, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Mohammad Abdullah Ahmed Al Ghurair, Tariq Hussain Khansaheb, Abdullah Salem Mohammed Mana and Abdul Wahid Al Fahim.
