Mohammed opens 4th FNC session

Mohammed, crown princes, deputy rulers and FNC members

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum opened the fourth ordinary session of the 14th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC) in Abu Dhabi today.

On arrival at the FNC's headquarters, Sheikh Mohammed was received by FNC Speaker Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, after which he pronounced the session open in the presence of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Al Ghurair delivered a speech on behalf of the council in which he renewed the council's pledge to continue their active cooperation with the government, adding that the FNC would, ''serve the country and its citizens before Allah, the president, the vice president and the members of the Supreme Council of the Federation.''

The speaker highlighted the council's achievements during its previous session, and expressed both his and the FNC's gratitude for the boundless support they received from UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the members of the Supreme Council.

Their support, he said, has enabled the council to pursue the supreme national interests of the country and its citizens through discussion and constructive dialogue.

Speaking on behalf of President Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed addressed the council and conveyed the greetings of the president and the Supreme Council. He went on to praise the FNC's role, describing it as one of the key pillars of the UAE Federation and a major component of the country's progress.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Dubai Deputy Ruler and Finance Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sharjah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Ras Al Khaimah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Fujairah Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Umm Al Quwain Crown Prince Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla, a number of sheikhs, ministers and members of the diplomatic corps.
